Russia initiated aerial assaults on energy facilities across Ukraine early Wednesday, deploying over 50 missiles and drones in seven regions, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported.
The attacks inflicted damage on the railway station and tracks in Kherson, situated across the Dnieper River from Russian-held territory. Additionally, two individuals were injured in Brovary, adjacent to the capital Kyiv, officials confirmed.
These assaults represent a continuation of Russia’s consistent targeting of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, with major aerial attacks occurring on April 27 and a week earlier.
In a social media statement, Zelenskyy highlighted that Wednesday’s attacks coincided with Ukraine’s observance of the end of European hostilities in World War II.
“Massive missile attack by Nazi Putin on the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in the Second World War,” Zelenskyy declared. “The whole world should clearly understand who is who; The whole world has no right to give Nazism another chance.”
According to Ukrenergo, the national electrical grid operator, facilities were targeted in multiple regions including Vinnytsia, Zaporizhzhia, Kirovohrad, Poltava, and Ivano-Frankivsk.
Regional governor Maksym Kozytskyi reported that two energy facilities were struck in the Lviv region, situated in the far west of the country, far from the front lines of the conflict.
