Polish forces have found a drone suspected to be Russian near a beach on the country’s northern Baltic coast, Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said Monday.
The minister announced the discovery in a post on X. Polish authorities had not immediately provided details about the drone’s condition, how it reached the area or what its mission may have been. Its origin has not been independently confirmed. Reuters
The find comes as Poland remains alert to drone activity linked to the war in neighbouring Ukraine. Polish officials have also pledged to strengthen security following recent Russian strikes near the Ukraine–Poland border. Those developments add urgency to the examination of the object found on the Baltic coast, but authorities have not established a connection between the incidents. Associated Press
For now, the key questions remain unanswered: where the drone came from, whether it entered Polish airspace, and why it ended up near the beach. Further findings from Polish authorities will be needed before its discovery can be attributed to a specific operation.
