Lufthansa has cut the upper end of its 2026 operating profit forecast as rising fuel costs weigh on earnings despite strong travel demand.
The German airline group now expects operating profit of €1.7 billion to €2 billion, compared with its previous forecast of €1.7 billion to €2.2 billion. Its projected annual fuel bill has reached €9.3 billion.
Third-quarter operating profit reached €1.4 billion, slightly exceeding analysts’ expectations.
Lufthansa said demand remained strong for premium travel and routes to Asia and North America. Full-year earnings will depend on fuel prices, demand and cargo performance.
