Russian Drone Attacks Intensify Across Ukraine

Russian forces have launched a new wave of drone attacks across several regions of Ukraine, Ukrainian officials said, as Moscow continues to rely heavily on unmanned aerial vehicles to strike infrastructure and maintain pressure far from the front lines.

According to Ukraine’s air force, dozens of explosive drones, including Iranian-designed Shahed models, were launched overnight toward targets in central, eastern, and southern Ukraine. Air defense units intercepted many of the drones, but authorities confirmed that several strikes caused damage to infrastructure and civilian property.

Energy and Infrastructure Targeted

Ukrainian officials said the attacks focused in part on energy facilities, power grids, and logistics infrastructure, leading to temporary electricity disruptions in some areas. The strikes come during winter conditions, increasing concerns about heating and essential services for millions of residents.

Emergency repair teams were deployed to damaged sites, while energy authorities warned that repeated attacks are placing growing strain on repair capacity.

Civilian Impact

Local administrations reported injuries among civilians and damage to residential buildings caused by explosions or falling drone debris. Emergency services responded to fires and evacuations in several cities, while officials urged residents to remain in shelters during air raid alerts.

Kyiv accused Russia of deliberately targeting civilian areas, describing the drone campaign as part of a broader strategy to undermine morale and daily life.

Ukraine’s Defense and International Support

Ukraine’s military said its air defense systems continue to intercept a high percentage of incoming drones but noted that Russia is adapting tactics, including launching drones in large numbers and using low-altitude flight paths to overwhelm defenses.

Ukrainian officials renewed calls on Western allies to provide additional air defense systems, radar equipment, and ammunition, stressing that drone warfare has become a central element of the conflict.

Wider Context

Analysts say the continued drone attacks reflect Moscow’s effort to sustain pressure despite limited battlefield advances, using relatively low-cost weapons to cause widespread disruption. Ukrainian authorities, meanwhile, insist that resilience remains strong and that defenses will continue to improve with international support.

As the war enters another phase, drone warfare is increasingly shaping both the military and humanitarian landscape across Ukraine.
