A Russian drone struck a crowded platform at Dnipro’s main railway station on Thursday, killing at least 14 people, Ukrainian officials said. Separate strikes in Chernihiv and Kremenchuk killed five more people, according to Reuters.
Ukraine’s state railway operator, Ukrzaliznytsia, said a jet-powered drone hit the platform as a commuter train prepared to depart for Zaporizhzhia. Emergency workers evacuated wounded passengers, while images released by Ukrainian authorities showed extensive damage at the station.
Dnipropetrovsk regional authorities confirmed that the death toll had risen to 14, revising an earlier figure of 13. Officials also reported injuries, including people in serious condition.
In northern Ukraine, an attack on a busy street in central Chernihiv killed two teenagers and wounded 23 people. A separate strike on an apartment building in Kremenchuk killed three people and injured 15, regional officials said.
President Volodymyr Zelensky urged Ukraine’s international partners to increase pressure on Moscow following the attacks. Russia denies deliberately targeting civilians.
The strikes occurred while a limited humanitarian ceasefire remained in effect around Russian-occupied Oleshky in the southern Kherson region. That arrangement was intended to enable aid deliveries and civilian evacuations and did not cover the rest of Ukraine.
