Russia launched a large wave of missiles and drones against Kyiv and several other Ukrainian regions, causing casualties, damaging civilian and commercial buildings, and disrupting railway services across the country.
The Ukrainian capital and its surrounding region came under repeated attacks for a second consecutive day. Air-raid sirens sounded for extended periods as air-defense units attempted to intercept incoming drones and missiles.
Ukrainian officials reported that at least one person was killed in the Kyiv region. The strikes damaged residential properties, including apartment buildings and houses, as well as numerous warehouses and logistics facilities.
Among the sites affected were sorting and storage facilities operated by the Ukrainian delivery company Nova Poshta in the Kyiv and Sumy regions. A warehouse belonging to a major Ukrainian book retailer was also reportedly damaged in the capital.
Elsewhere, attacks were recorded in Kharkiv, Odesa, Poltava, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia and other areas. A strike on a shopping center in Kharkiv reportedly caused casualties, while several people were injured when a home-improvement store in Zaporizhzhia was hit.
Ukraine’s railway network also experienced delays as emergency crews inspected damaged infrastructure and responded to the consequences of the attacks. Authorities urged passengers to monitor official updates as services were adjusted in several regions.
Ukrainian officials said the scale and duration of the assault appeared designed to place sustained pressure on the country’s air-defense systems. They also accused Russia of deliberately targeting civilian, commercial and logistical infrastructure to disrupt everyday life and weaken the economy.
Emergency teams were deployed to extinguish fires, search damaged buildings and assist residents. Authorities warned people to remain in shelters during air-raid alerts and avoid areas where debris or unexploded weapons might be present.
The latest attacks underline the continuing intensity of the war, with population centers and infrastructure remaining exposed to long-range strikes despite ongoing international efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s defensive capabilities.
