Nearly eight months ago, an AI employee emerged in the UK. It was the country’s first. At the time, it was announced that it was available for hire. It’s named Avery Ingram.
According to reports, Angram is developed by software company February with the aim of assisting existing software development teams. Angram’s missions also included checking code and clearing backlogs. Just like in the UK, there has emerged a similar move in the UAE.
The Abu Dhabi-based International Holding Company (IHC), a globally diversified multi-sector investment firm, has unveiled the establishment of a novel position within its board called the “Artificial Intelligence (AI) Observer,” going by the name Aiden Insight.
Reports suggest that this pioneering initiative by IHC leverages the cutting-edge AI capabilities of G42 in partnership with Microsoft, establishing a new standard of excellence in AI development within the fields of business and investment.
Utilizing the UAE’s most extensive AI computing system, G42 is in the process of developing “Aiden” to function as an IHC Board Observer. Aiden will possess the capability to seamlessly process and rapidly analyze decades of business data, financial information, market trends, and global economic indicators in real-time.
Back to the UK’s Avery Angram, she has been fully personified as an employee, complete with a ChatGPT-generated CV, an AI-drawn portrait, and even a LinkedIn account. Additionally, she is available for hire by software development companies and is capable of undergoing a traditional recruitment process.
The bot’s contract is akin to an employment agreement, complete with notice periods. She has already been assigned to generative AI software support roles, serving as a senior full-stack developer within the development teams at Graze, Propello Cloud, Fabspot, and Encode Health, and is presently engaged in 180 projects. Avery’s efficiency surpasses that of her human counterparts, as she can manage over 20 tickets a day, compared to three for humans. Strikingly, companies pay the equivalent of the living wage to utilize Avery’s services.
As regards IHC, “Aiden Insight” embodies both symbolic significance and functional utility for its role as a Board Observer AI. “Aiden,” with Irish origins and serving as both a male and female name, conveys meanings of “little fire” or “fiery one,” symbolizing the AI’s capability to spark innovation and offer dynamic insights.
Meanwhile, Aiden’s surname “Insight” underscores its proficiency in thorough data analysis and provision of valuable perspectives to the board. Together, Aiden’s name functions as both an “aid and an enhancer,” facilitating informed and strategic decision-making on the board.
In conclusion, IHC’s step has been remarkable. It ushers in a new era where innovation is taking a stronger hold in the labor market. According to observers, the company sets an example and leads the way in the Middle East, taking it into a new territory on par with those trodden in Europe and the US.
