French police have brought a knife-wielding suspect under control during an active incident in Grenoble, preventing further escalation and securing the area, according to preliminary official accounts.

The incident occurred in a public location in Grenoble, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement after reports that an individual was threatening people with a bladed weapon. Officers quickly intervened, isolating the suspect and neutralizing the threat without posing additional danger to bystanders.

Authorities confirmed that the suspect was restrained at the scene and taken into custody. Emergency services were dispatched as a precaution, while police established a security perimeter to ensure public safety and allow for initial investigations.

At this stage, officials have not indicated any terror-related motive, stressing that investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances and intent behind the incident. Witness statements and surveillance footage are expected to play a key role in clarifying what led to the confrontation.
