Lavish festivities marked the wedding of Brunei’s Prince Abdul Mateen and his wife, with a grand ceremony attended by dignitaries from Asia and the Middle East. The 32-year-old prince and his 29-year-old bride, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Anisha Rosnah, graced the event in ceremonial attire, making their first public appearance as a married couple.
The elaborate celebration unfolded at the Istana Nurul Iman palace, with a procession through Bandar Seri Begawan witnessed by thousands.
Prince Abdul Mateen, once considered one of Asia’s most eligible bachelors, married into a prominent Bruneian family. His father, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, holds the distinction of being the world’s longest-reigning monarch and was once ranked as the wealthiest person globally.
The city embraced a festive atmosphere, offering free ice cream and soft drinks, as crowds gathered along the parade route ahead of the ceremony.
Among the attendees was retired banker Haji Suhaimin Abas, part of Brunei’s elite, expressing the significance of the grand celebration. The guest list included royalty from Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, and Bhutan, totaling around 5,000 guests.
Political leaders, including Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Indonesian President Joko Widodo, and Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos, added to the distinguished presence at the wedding ceremony.
