Eurozone governments have been given until November 27 to nominate candidates to replace Isabel Schnabel on the European Central Bank’s Executive Board.
The deadline was extended from October 28 to allow member states more time to prepare nominations, a spokesperson for Eurogroup President Kyriakos Pierrakakis said.
Schnabel, who oversees the ECB’s market operations, is scheduled to leave on January 3 for a position at the International Monetary Fund.
The extension gives governments another month to identify candidates for the influential monetary policy role.
