Britain and the European Union are working to resolve differences over proposed “Made in Europe” rules, British Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds said Tuesday.
The proposals would favour European-made goods in public procurement and support schemes for electric vehicles, batteries and other clean technologies, raising concerns for British manufacturers.
Reynolds said substantial discussions were underway to provide businesses with greater clarity. Britain’s car industry is particularly exposed to uncertainty over eligibility.
Any final EU proposal would require approval from member states and the European Parliament.
