Zelenskyy Accuses Russia of Continuing Energy Strikes Despite Trump’s Truce Announcement

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accused Russia on Monday of continuing attacks on energy facilities despite U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of an “energy ceasefire,” raising questions about whether a mutual halt had been agreed.

Speaking by video to the Warsaw Security Forum, Zelenskyy said Ukraine was ready to stop targeting Russian refineries if Moscow halted attacks on Ukraine’s energy system. He urged Washington to press Russia to comply.

Zelenskyy reported that a Russian drone struck a Ukrainian gas production facility overnight and that other drones hit a petrol station. He described those attacks as violations of the truce announced by Trump.

Trump said on Sunday that the pause would take effect immediately. However, Zelenskyy said the announcement was the first he had heard of the arrangement and that Kyiv was awaiting its details. A senior Ukrainian official told Reuters that Ukraine was prepared to agree if Russia did the same.

The Kremlin said discussions about a possible energy ceasefire were continuing. Spokesman Dmitry Peskov indicated that further information would follow, leaving the status of the announced arrangement uncertain.

The reported strikes remain Ukrainian allegations. With the terms and implementation of a mutual pause still unclear, Trump’s announcement does not by itself establish that both countries were observing an operational ceasefire.
