In response to whether the US and Europe should either support Israel’s military aims or curb Prime Minister Netanyahu’s military initiatives, between 22% (France) and 36% (Spain) favored the latter approach.
Notably, between 21% (France and the UK) and 25% (Italy) felt that Europe and the US should avoid involvement altogether.
Meanwhile, the expectation of a major conflict between Israel and Iran was substantial, with majorities from 52% in Denmark to 65% in Spain viewing such an escalation as “very” or “fairly” likely.
If a war were to unfold, the prevailing opinion across these countries leaned toward non-intervention, with 42% in Denmark to 59% in Italy opposing military aid to Israel from the US and Europe.
Public sentiment in these nations toward Palestine and Israel was largely unfavorable. Italy was an exception, where views on Palestine were nearly split, with 33% negative and 30% positive.
In Germany, 61% viewed Palestine negatively, with only 15% expressing favorable views. In Sweden, this balance was 57% unfavorable to 20% favorable, and in France, it stood at 42% unfavorable to 25% favorable.
Israel also faced negative opinions, with net favorability scores ranging from minus 15 in France to minus 24 in Germany, minus 30 in Sweden, and minus 33 in Spain.
