In an announcement made on Tuesday, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen revealed that the EU’s executive arm would propose that member states initiate formal membership discussions with Bosnia.
Addressing the European Parliament, Von der Leyen emphasized Bosnia’s progress in meeting membership criteria and its citizens’ desire to integrate into the EU family.
She stated, “This is why we will propose to the Council to commence accession negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina.”
